Did you know that keeping your website’s blog up to date with your recent work is the number one way to increase your Google ranking and website traffic organically? It’s true! Google loves websites with consistent and new content, so the more blog posts you add to your website the more likely you are to appear in Google search results. I find that many designers don’t realize the power of having a blog on their website, so today I’m sharing my top 5 tips for how to blog your interior design projects.
The good news is, it’s really not that complicated!
5 Tips To Blog Your Interior Design Projects
1. Focus The Post On How You Solved A Problem In Your Client’s Home
Remember that while your goal is to showcase your talent and knowledge, not everyone is design savvy (that’s why they’re looking to hire you!), so focus your post more on showcasing how you solved a problem in the client’s home. This could be how you created a more functional yet beautiful space for them to entertain, or gave them the master suite they’ve always wanted.
2. Identify A Keyword To Focus Your Post On
Before you begin writing, identify a keyword that you are going to focus on – this is how you will optimize the blog post for SEO (search engine optimization). You’ll want to naturally include this keyword throughout your post, and also in the title.
For example, if your keyword is “kitchen renovation” and you are located in Boston, your blog title could be; “Luxury Kitchen Renovation in Boston’s South End.”
3. Share Images Of The Finished Interior Design Project
This is where you will really showcase your skills! Share images of the finished project, and bonus points if they’re professional photos. You could also include “before” shots to help the reader visualize the transformation that you created. Add alt text to describe the images – this also helps with SEO if you include your keywords here.
4. Follow An Outline For Inspiration
To give yourself focus as you write, follow a simple outline:
- Describe the client’s lifestyle and the objective you hoped to accomplish
- Show the steps and stages of the project
- Share a design tip or two that is relevant to the project
5. Keep The Post Around 500 Words Or Less
Keep the post about your design project simple. Around 500 words or so is usually sufficient for SEO optimization and for keeping the readers’ attention!
See, it’s not too hard right? Blogging is the best way to organically grow your website’s traffic and increase your ranking on Google searches.
